RunWall has no user accounts and does not receive your runs, minutes, or the list of apps you block. This data is stored on your iPhone and, when iCloud is available, in your private iCloud storage. It is sent to us only if you choose to contact support. The app also checks an announcement file on runwall.app without sending a user identifier, has purchases counted by RevenueCat, and measures journey steps with PostHog and receives error reports from Sentry, without your name or contact details.
Who is responsible for this data
RunWall is published by an independent developer. For questions about your data, email support@runwall.app.
Health data
With your permission, RunWall reads only your running workouts from Health: their date, duration, and distance. This information is used to add minutes for the apps you choose.
- This data is read, never written: RunWall does not change anything in Health.
- It stays on your device and is not sent to any server, partner, or analytics tool. The only exception is information you choose to send us, as described below.
- It is never used for advertising or marketing and is never shared with third parties.
- You can remove this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
The apps you block
RunWall uses Screen Time to block the apps you choose. Apple does not reveal their names to RunWall. The system provides only opaque identifiers that work on your device. We therefore do not know which apps you block. This selection cannot be moved to another iPhone and must be chosen again.
Your settings and activity
Your first name, written motivation, minutes, settings, and history of counted runs are stored on your device. When iCloud is available, a copy is placed in your private iCloud storage so it can be restored after reinstalling the app or changing phones. This storage belongs to your Apple Account and we cannot access it. Your blocked-app selection is not included in this copy.
The announcement file
Whenever it opens, RunWall reads a small file from runwall.app to occasionally display an announcement in the app. Other exchanges with our service providers are described below.
The file is the same for everyone and the request contains no user identifier. As with any website connection, the hosting provider receives the IP address and technical information needed to return the file.
No account and no advertising tracking
- No sign-up, password, or email address is requested.
- No advertising tracker and no advertising identifier.
- No data is used to track you across apps or websites.
Understanding the RunWall journey
We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand which steps work and where people stop. The app sends openings, screens visited, forward and backward navigation, tracking setup saved or skipped, paywall views, purchase attempt outcomes, and unlock starts or failures.
Events are associated with a random installation identifier and technical details such as app version, iOS version and device model. This lets us recognize returns to RunWall without knowing your name. The data is pseudonymous, not completely anonymous.
Your name, answers, Screen Time, typed starting value, runs, distances, minutes and blocked apps are never sent to PostHog. No screens are recorded or captured. IP-based location enrichment is disabled; like any contacted server, the provider still receives the IP address needed for the connection.
This data is used to improve RunWall, not for advertising. Retention depends on our PostHog project settings. For requests concerning this data, contact support@runwall.app.
Finding crashes and errors
Sentry, configured with an ingestion endpoint in Germany, helps us fix crashes, interface hangs and certain operational errors. It receives the app and iOS versions, technical device characteristics, code stack traces and the names of a few recent actions within RunWall. Technical session information also helps measure app stability.
Errors explicitly reported by the app are limited to an operation type and a technical code, for example a purchase or re-block scheduling failure. No video, screenshot, health data, Screen Time value, personal input or app journal is attached. Blocked app names and minute balances are not sent. Like any contacted server, Sentry receives the IP address needed for the connection.
This information is used to diagnose and fix errors. Retention depends on our Sentry project settings. For requests, contact support@runwall.app.
Payments
The RunWall+ subscription and lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Apple. RunWall does not receive your card details, address, or name. The app receives only the App Store status indicating whether access is valid. For billing or refund questions, go through Apple in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
To know how many people subscribe and how many renew, RunWall has its purchases counted by RevenueCat, a company based in the United States. It receives the plan you chose, its purchase date, its renewal date, the price, your App Store country, and the app version and device model. It does not receive your name, your email address, or your card details: Apple does not pass those to us. You appear there only as a randomly generated number, linked to no other information.
This counting covers your purchases only. Your runs, your minutes, your first name, and the apps you block are never sent to it. That company never decides whether your access is valid: that answer comes from Apple, and from Apple alone.
If you contact us
When you use “Write to us” in the app, it first shows you, in full, what the email will contain. Only then does your email app open a draft containing the app and iOS versions, your iPhone model, and a few settings that help with diagnosis.
A diagnostic log is also attached, and its text is part of what the app shows you before opening your email app. It contains technical actions from the previous seven days, such as sessions starting or ending, settings changing, the number of runs read from Health, and minutes added. It does not contain your first name, written motivation, or app names. However, it contains information derived from your health data, including the number of runs and minutes added, which may make it possible to estimate distances.
Nothing is sent until you tap “Send.” You can read the message, delete lines, remove the attachment, or close the draft. We use received information only to answer your request, and keep emails only as long as needed to handle it.
How long data is kept
The local copy is deleted when you delete RunWall. The copy in your private iCloud may remain available for a future reinstall. You can manage or delete it in the iCloud settings for your Apple Account.
Purchase information passed to RevenueCat is kept by that company under its own retention policy, for as long as RunWall holds an account there.
Your rights
The European General Data Protection Regulation provides rights including access, correction, deletion, and objection. Most RunWall data is managed directly on your iPhone and in your private iCloud storage. For information you may have sent to support, email support@runwall.app. You may also contact the French data protection authority, the CNIL.
Purchase information is processed by RevenueCat, Inc. as a processor, on servers located in the United States. This transfer outside the European Union is covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
The runwall.app website
The runwall.app website uses no analytics tool, advertising tracker, or preference cookie. Its fonts are served by runwall.app. As with any website, the hosting provider receives the IP address and technical information needed to display the pages.
Children
RunWall is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data about them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will be updated. Important changes will be announced in the app.
